Safety at Sea awards to be presented on HMS Belfast

08 April, 2013
Innovations in international maritime safety will be recognized aboard London's HMS Belfast in June as part of the IHS Safety at Sea Awards

Running for the 7th annual season, the awards are designed to provide recognition to companies and individuals involved in the protection of lives at sea and will be presented to the winners on 13th June 2013 on board the historic vessel HMS Belfast which is permanently moored in the capital on the River Thames.

Nominations are still being accepted for the awards and will continue to be taken up until the deadline on Wednesday 17th April 2013. Nominations are being accepted for:

1 Innovative equipment design or development which reduces risk at sea, protects lives or improves security.

2 Software or electronic systems which are either embedded or stand alone that have a direct impact on maritime safety.

3 Managerial or operational improvements that result in demonstrable improved working practices.

4 Training initiatives that lead to safer working practices or attitudes.

5 Security systems that lead to better on-board or on-shore security.

Eligibility is based on completed projects that were implemented or brought to market in any of these categories during 2012. All entries will be assessed by an independent panel of judges.
