: 25 October, 2010  (New Product)
The Paris Euronaval show is being attended by XSMG World displaying the advanced XSR Interceptor light 15 metre vessel for border control and anti-piracy operations
Appearing for the first time at Euronaval 2010 is XSMG World’s renowned XSR Interceptor - acknowledged as the world’s most technically advanced vessel in its class. In keeping with the UK-based company’s chosen theme for the show, ‘XSR: a Total Solution’, the XSR (Stand D3) has been kitted out with some of its world-class communications and weapons capability options from Thales, Kongsberg, Ullman and Flir, to provide live and interactive demonstrations to invited guests.

The XSR range of vessels, from 9m to 25m, has been created and built to perform multiple roles in Interception, Interdiction, Insertion and Special Projects and some of the major systems options on display include: the Thales FLASH dipping sonar system, Lightweight Multi-Role Missile (LMM) and ‘Commander’ command system; the Kongsberg ’Sea PROTECTOR’, a fully stabilised remote controlled weapon station (RWS) mounted on XSMG’s patented retractable weapon platform; the FLIR TALON multi-sensor system mounted on XSMG’s telescopic mast system; the Ullman range of shock mitigating seating.

Fully systems integrated with Above & Below Water Capability (RWS, Torpedo, LMM, Dipping Sonar, C4I*, rear mounted 7.62s) the XSR has a significant role to play in modern Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIOPS) including maritime terrorism, illegal immigration, drug smuggling, piracy, border penetration and offshore critical asset protection.

XSMG World’s CEO, Ian Sanderson, says: “We have designed and developed the entire XSR range to represent a total solution in the challenging and complex arena of modern waterborne threats. In all parts of the world there is, increasingly noticeably, a move away from traditional investment in large ships towards having a multiple of smaller and more agile craft. The XSR sits uniquely between the two, with all the flexibility and agility of a small high speed light craft, yet with the strength, weaponry and systems capability of much larger vessels, and at a fraction of the annualized cost of operation.”

The XSR range offers end users the ultimate in maritime capability in a high speed light craft. Better by design and leading with technology, the XSR is lighter, faster, stronger, and has greater endurance and capacity, than is available elsewhere.

The platform is built to detect, deter, identify, intercept and resolve more targets in less time per mission. Equipped to remain on station with a crew of 4 systems operators and up to 20 troops (depending on selected vessel size and configuration) the boat can track a threat covertly for 24 to 72 hours, with a range of 600-1000nm. Powered by 2 or 3 inboard diesel engines with water jets or surface drives, it is capable of 60 to 80 knots.
