Canadian Army Selects SELEX S&AS Combat Proven Hostile Artillery Locating System (HALO) To Protect Its Vital Forces
SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems UK, a Finmeccanica company, has won a contract to supply its combat proven HALO system to the Canadian Department of National Defence.

The 7.5m contract, announced at the Farnborough International Air Show this week, adds another NATO customer to the list of countries, including the USA and the UK, who have already selected HALO as their system of choice. The system is proved to be a success worldwide with further orders already secured in Japan and at least one middle-eastern country.

This latest order is further evidence of HALO's proven and combat tested capability which is being demonstrated in Iraq where the System is a significant part of British Army and US Marine Corp operations.

The contract is for the supply of multiple systems to support the Canadian defence forces on missions at home and abroad. The contract was awarded as a result of a successful response to a Canadian Government Solicitation of Interest and Qualification.

Commenting on the contract award Doug Baxter, Managing Director and General Manager for SELEX S&AS, Basildon said 'SELEX S&AS is delighted to have won this important contract with another NATO partner. We are looking forward to supporting the Canadian forces on future deployments with HALO which has proved so successful in saving the lives of UK and US soldiers and marines on operations around the world.

'HALO has been proven in combat to deliver an essential capability for modern armed forces on active service in the world's trouble spots. We know that HALO allows the commander both to protect and make best use of his forces and we are committed to a programme of continuous improvement to further enhance its already powerful capabilities. We will continue to invest in HALO for many years to come'.

HALO capability continues to be enhanced by SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems UK and significant research and development funding is in place to ensure that HALO remains the most advanced passive weapon location system in the world.
