QP Semiconductor
: 27 October, 2010  (Company News)
Supplier of semiconductor devices to defence and aerospace manufacturers now forms part of e2v aerospace and defense division
QP Semiconductor, headquartered in Santa Clara, California and acquired by e2v in 2008 is now a part of e2v aerospace and defense, recently established by e2v as part of the groupís expansion of resources and capabilities focusing on the US military and aerospace electronics sectors.

The company will also unveil its new Semiconductor Lifecycle Management program at the DMSMS conference in Las Vegas, Oct. 25 Ė 28, exhibiting at booth # 203.

QP Semiconductor has been serving military, aerospace and high reliability industries for over 25 years and moving forward, e2v will continue offering QPís US semiconductor capabilities as well as expanded services and solutions critical to mil/aero and hi-rel industrial OEMs.

Traditional semiconductor obsolescence management (OM) is reactive, can be unreliable and offers little cost control or security of supply over decades of system requirements.

e2vís semiconductor lifecycle management program offers a new approach to OM and to the design, manufacture and through life support of aerospace, defence and long lifecycle commercial systems; preparing for and planning against the effects of component obsolescence at points as early as the original system design process. The result is security of supply and avoidance of issues such as spiralling costs and counterfeit goods entering the supply chain from uncontrolled sources.

In addition, e2vís program works with existing platforms to review current last time buy inventory and so manage lifetime supply and future cost for key components.

e2v will be leading a workshop on the subject at the DMSMS conference on Wednesday, Oct. 27th at 2pm.

ďWe have been part of the e2v group for two years,Ē said Jim Townsend, director of marketing for e2vís Santa Clara semiconductor operations. ďOur newly expanded services and resources will allow us to deliver against a wider range of unmet needs for sustaining our mil/aero customersí systems in ways no other supplier can. Our business opportunity is more extensive than ever due to the combined strength of the QP brand and e2v.Ē
