Finnish Defence Forces extend official support to MAST 2009

Finland’s Chief of Defence, Admiral Juhani Kaskeala has confirmed their full support for the MAST 2009 conference and trade-show in Sweden.

In the official letter of support sent to MAST conference Chairman, Rear-Admiral (ret’) Bertil Bjorkman, Admiral Kaskeala (pictured) states: “The Finnish Armed Forces support the proposed conference and exhibition and strongly endorse the arrangement.”

He also stressed that Finnish industry will be actively encouraged to have a significant presence at the event: “The Finnish Defence Forces will also support and encourage the Finnish defence industry’s participation in the exhibition, as well as the conference.”

The Finnish Defence Forces are also expected to have official participation in MAST’s Friday morning plenary on a key MAST theme.

Long time MAST supporters (since the first ever MAST) Lockheed Martin have again secured Silver Sponsorship status, for this year’s event in Stockholm.

Lockheed Martin MS2 (Maritime Systems and Sensors) provides surface, air and undersea applications on more than 460 programs for U.S. military and international customers.

Last month the U.S. Navy recently awarded Lockheed Martin the contract to upgrade the MK 92 Fire Control System on Turkey’s G-class guided missile frigates, an upgrade that will support the introduction of the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM).

MAST visitors will be able to discuss the ESSM and many other LM products/services from their vast portfolio, on what is regularly one of MAST’s most diversified trade-show stands.

Eurotorp to offer anti-submarine expertise at MAST

Lightweight torpedo weapon systems specialist Eurotorp will exhibit at MAST for the first time, this year in Stockholm.

Eurotorp is a collaboration formed in 1993 with French and Italian defense companies. MAST 2009 visitors will be able to discuss their needs with Eurotorp company executives, and see demonstrations of their current product portfolio which includes: The MU90/IMPACT lightweight torpedo (in service with the French, Italian, German, Danish, Polish navies, and accepted by the Common Wealth of Australia); The A244/s lightweight torpedo family (in service with more than 15 navies); Associated launching systems and logistic support.
