L-3 And AMA Co-operate on Complete Flight Data and Transmission System

AeroMechanical Services : 22 February, 2010  (Company News)
Real Time Data Communications from AeroMechanical Services to be delivered in conjunction with flight recorder systems from L-3 Communications to offer real time flight data storage and transmission for airlines
L-3 Aviation Recorders has signed an agreement with AeroMechanical Services of Canada to sell AMAs real-time data communications and Internet data delivery solutions for aircraft. Together with L-3s flight recorder and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) products, these AMA product and service solutions offer customers the ability to receive, record, store, monitor, transmit and analyse critical aircraft flight data, in real time when necessary, to cost effectively improve aircraft performance and operational safety.

These AMA solutions will be marketed under the brand FLYHT, in conjunction with L-3s industry-leading line of Flight Data Recorders (FDRs), commonly referred to as aircraft black boxes. Supporting the selling activity, AMA will be the provider to L-3 of Iridium-based real-time data communications and Internet data delivery solutions, including AMAs FLYHTstream data streaming solution and its fuel and emissions management solutions, First and Fuel MI.

L-3 is extremely pleased to offer to its extensive worldwide airline and OEM customer base a complete flight data storage, transmission and management system that combines L-3s leading quick access recorder, FDR and EFB products with the AMA suite of wireless data monitoring, transmission and analysis products and tools, said Bruce Coffey, president of L-3 Aviation Recorders. In conjunction with an on-board L-3 flight recorder, AMA has already demonstrated FDR data and aircraft position streaming on in-service aircraft.

Richard Hayden, AMA president, added, We are delighted to team with the world leader in data recording and are proud that L-3 has recognized AMAs technologies as cutting-edge solutions for seamless information delivery from air vehicle to end user. As a team, we will truly offer end users and original equipment manufacturers one-stop shopping for their data recording and information delivery requirements.
