Ku/Ka-band block converters handle multiple satellite transponders simultaneously

Link Microtek : 19 June, 2014  (New Product)
Available from Link Microtek is a range of block up-converters and down-converters that are designed to save space and simplify the layout of outdoor antenna systems for commercial or military satellite-communications applications.
Ku/Ka-band block converters handle multiple satellite transponders simultaneously
Manufactured by US company Miteq, the Multiple I/O Wideband series converters combine the functionality of either two or three separate units in a single robustly constructed antenna-mount package, enabling them to handle multiple wide-bandwidth satellite transponders simultaneously.

The up-converters accept either two or three independent IF inputs and up-convert them into one wideband RF output, while the down-converters take one Ku-band or Ka-band RF input and down-convert it into either two or three independent IF outputs.

Gain is specified as 27dB for the up-converters and 30dB for the down-converters, and both types feature a gain control facility and automatic selection of internal or 5/10MHz external reference oscillator. They offer excellent frequency stability and low intermodulation distortion, as well as phase-noise characteristics below the IESS308/309 and MIL-STD-188-164B specifications.

Front-panel LEDs and summary alarm signals provide status indication for mains power, local-oscillator frequency and DC voltage. In addition, the converters incorporate a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface for browser-based remote monitoring and control with password protection.

Available in a variety of models covering different frequency ranges in the Ku and Ka bands, the block converters are housed in a compact weather-resistant enclosure and have an operating temperature range of -40 to +50C.
