Korean Army Takes Viper Radar Power Supplies

Aura Systems : 12 February, 2010  (Application Story)
Aura Systems will supply 3-phase power supply systems to the Republic of Korea’s Army for use on radar systems
Aura Systems, has announced that its military Viper mobile power solution was chosen for the NRRS program of the Army of the ROK. The program will require delivery of 50 systems in calendar year (CY) 2011, 50 in CY 2012 and 32 systems in CY 2013. Each of the Viper systems will provide 16 kW of three-phase 220VAC power. In addition to the 132 systems the Company will deliver 5 such systems within 60 days to be integrated into the radar system for training and testing while the 132 radar systems are being delivered according to the above schedule. The value to Aura of the entire program is approximately $2.0 million; the initial 5 systems are priced at $175,000, which includes nonrecurring engineering charges (NRE) for customisation of the Viper solution to this unique application.

Dr Arthur Schwartz, Aura’s CTO said “This is a very important program where our Viper system will provide 16 kW, 3 phase, 220VAC electricity to power radar systems. We had demonstrated previously a 16 kW single-phase system for the US Navy. This is a new capability for the Viper system that expands military applications to more advance and complex systems. Both the single and three-phase 16 kW models have significant commercial applications as well.”

Mr Melvin Gagerman, Aura’s CEO said, “We are very pleased to see the VIPER integrated into an advance system. This new program is in addition to our existing 5 kW single-phase Viper being delivered to the South Korean Army. We have delivered to date, 300 of the 5 kW systems and the balance of 700 systems is to be delivered at the rate of 100 per year. We are also anticipating an additional significantly larger contract from the Korean Army sometime this year. In addition to the Korean army we are currently bidding on numerous contracts for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and Singaporean army. No assurances can be given that we will win any or all the bids.”
