Inmedius? announces the availability of Inmedius Horizon?
|
Inmedius
: 28 June, 2007 (New Product) |
|
Inmedius® announced today the availability of Inmedius Horizon&, a revolutionary new system for the comprehensive management of a technical documentation department. The first of its kind, Horizon is a business process-driven system to create, manage and deploy complex technical information through its entire lifecycle. |
|
Inmedius Horizon supports industry technical documentation standards, including DITA, ATA iSpec 2200, DocBook, military specifications, and customized Document Type Definitions (DTD) -- all in one complete solution. Horizon also supports an array of document formats, regardless of whether they are SGML or XML, Adobe® Acrobat® PDF or Microsoft® Office Word formats, or illustration, graphic, sound and other media files. The Horizon system integrates seamlessly with popular authoring platforms, including built-in plug-ins for Adobe® FrameMaker® and PTC® Arbortext Editor™, as well as the Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite™.
'We are pleased that one of the first Inmedius Horizon installations will utilize the Adobe plug-in to maintain structured FrameMaker documents in the ATA iSpec 2200 publishing standard for aircraft production and maintenance,' said Michael Hu, senior product marketing manager at Adobe. 'With the powerful integration between Horizon and FrameMaker, system users will enjoy WYSIWYG authoring in either a word processing, style-tagging mode or a fully structured environment optimized for the editing and production of valid XML.'
The powerful combination of a flexible library system with Business Intelligence delivered through a unique Dashboard approach provides complete command over information assets. The Horizon Library allows information to be organized according to fully customizable criteria and to catalog content according to multiple variables.
'The Horizon Dashboard is a unique visual representation of the document management process, enabling managers to make informed business decisions based on observable, measurable facts,' stated Scott Able, Work Minimization Expert, The Content Wrangler. 'The Dashboard control panel provides graphical interpretations of the metrics being collected for complete visibility and control over all components within a department.'
Inmedius Horizon users also benefit by its tight integration with both Microsoft® Project and Excel. It is the only system that defines, builds and maintains its own internal Project schedule for each item. Integration with Excel allows costs to be examined and analyzed through custom spreadsheets for each document, reuse object or assigned object. Horizon's flexible reporting engine retrieves data quickly and efficiently, outputting the designated information to be shared among all stakeholders of a technical documentation project.
'A professional technical documentation manager needs to make certain that all aspects of the organization are efficiently administered -- data, process, personnel, schedules and costs,' explained Gary L. Schaffer, President and CEO, Inmedius. 'A key to success is having the right software presenting the right information at the right time. With Inmedius Horizon, managers have complete, centralized control. This ensures that everything within the system is part of a consistent and predefined process. Horizon facilitates the professional management of content, delivering the tools and information to efficiently manage a technical publications operation.'
