High repetition rate UV laser

Spectra-Physics, a Newport Corporation brand, introduces the Quasar 355-45, a breakthrough UV laser that delivers a record-breaking >45W (225 µJ) at exceptionally high repetition rates.  The laser features TimeShift technology for pulse shaping and burst-mode operation as well as programmable pulse widths from <5 ns to >100 ns over repetition rates from 0 to 1 MHz – factor of 2 improvements in repetition rate range and minimum pulse width over the recently introduced >40 W Quasar 355-40.  Spectra-Physics' new laser has been demonstrated to enable major advances in the fast, precision manufacturing of many types of microelectronic devices and components.

“With over 10,000 UV lasers deployed, Spectra-Physics is the leader in UV lasers, and Quasar 355-45 further demonstrates our extensive UV expertise,” says Dave Allen, general manager and senior vice president for Spectra-Physics.  “The Quasar laser is in volume production, and our customers are delighted with its remarkable processing results and reliable performance in highly demanding applications.”

Also available is the Quasar 532-75 model featuring >75 W (375 µJ) green output. The innovative Quasar platform combines advanced fiber laser, power amplifier, and patented harmonics technologies to achieve unsurpassed performance.  Utilizing long-life components and state-of-the-art UV manufacturing processes, Quasar has passed extensive environmental qualification testing, and each laser in production is subjected to rigorous tests to ensure high reliability.
