Harris Corporation
: 07 February, 2008  (New Product)
Harris Corporation and Cisco have announced that they are working together to speed the installation of Type 1 secure wireless networks for federal intelligence and civilian agencies.
The two companies will combine their core strengths to provide the Secure Mobile Architecture Type 1 (SMArT-1) -- a solution that expands the ability of federal agencies to view and share classified data over wireless information technology networks.

'In the past, Type 1 wireless solutions were limited at the federal level due to policy mandates for wireless networking and other protocols governing access to classified data,' said Richard Rzepkowski, vice president of communications security products, Harris RF Communications. 'The combination of Cisco and Harris equipment offers a complete solution that allows agencies to accomplish their objectives, backed by experts in wireless technology, integration, installation and support-all at the highest levels of information security.'

The combined solution includes Harris SecNet 54(R) device, the fastest Type 1 wireless encryption product available today, along with networking engineering, installation, management, support and training through the company's Harris IT Services business. Cisco will provide routers and controllers and other networking equipment, along with networking design and engineering services.

With the combined solution, federal agencies will now be able to obtain the best of Cisco and Harris products and expertise to develop premier Type 1 wireless solutions that can meet their requirements for data confidentiality and integrity, user and device authentication, availability, asset tracking and intrusion detection.
