General Dynamics Awarded $12 Million Naval Undersea Warfare Modeling and Simulation Contract
November 29, 2006

FAIRFAX, Va. - The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Information Technology a contract to provide information technology (IT) and modeling and simulation services for its Weapons Analysis Facility (WAF). The total potential value of this contract if all options are exercised is $11.7 million over five years. General Dynamics Information Technology is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).

Under this contract General Dynamics will provide software development, simulation model development and technical engineering services to the Navy's only real-time torpedo Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulator systems at the WAF Naval Undersea Warfare Center, supporting heavyweight and lightweight torpedo vehicles and their variants across the full lifecycle. General Dynamics has supported the WAF since 2002 and will continue to provide IT services including simulator upgrades, model development, hardware and software interface implementation, feasibility studies, engineering services, prototype development and software tools development.

'General Dynamics will provide the WAF with full-spectrum IT resources to support new and emerging technologies that enable program success,' said Al Whitmore, senior vice president of Navy Systems for General Dynamics Information Technology. 'General Dynamics is proud of our performance on this program, repeatedly developing, delivering and maintaining high-quality and cost-effective mission-critical technology products for WAF undersea vehicle and weapon system performance. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the WAF development team to evolve and expand its capabilities to meet the increasing technical demands and challenges presented by the U.S. Navy and its development programs.'

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center is the Navy's research, development, test, evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. In addition, as part of the United States DoD and Australian Department of Defense Armaments Cooperative Project, the WAF developed and provides support to the Royal Australian Navy's Torpedo Analysis Facility.
