General Dynamics - M1002 TPMP-T Ammunition Production

General Dynamics : 03 October, 2006  (New Product)
U.S. Army Awards General Dynamics $9 Million for 120mm M1002 TPMP-T Ammunition Production
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., has awarded General Dynamics ordnance and Tactical Systems a $9.3 million contract for manufacture and delivery of 120mm M1002 Target Practice Multi-Purpose Tracer (TPMP-T) Cartridges. General Dynamics ordnance and Tactical Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).

The M1002 Target Practice Multi-Purpose Tracer (TPMP-T) training cartridge provides the U.S. soldier with comprehensive training for the M830A1 High Explosive Anti-Tank Multi-Purpose Tracer (HEAT-MP-T) tactical cartridge. With its matched exterior ballistics and time-of-flight parameters, the M1002 allows for safe and cost-effective training without the use of high-explosive ammunition.

Michael S. Wilson, president of General Dynamics ordnance and Tactical Systems, said, ' General Dynamics ordnance and Tactical Systems has a long legacy of providing the armed forces with high performance training ammunition. We are extremely pleased to provide continuing support to the armored forces with this new and effective training capability.'

Work will be performed in Middletown, Iowa; St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Red Lion, Pa. Work is expected to be completed by Sept. 22, 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

General Dynamics ordnance and Tactical Systems is a world leader in the manufacture of large- and medium-caliber direct and indirect-fire munitions, bomb bodies and Ball Powder(R) propellant. The company also manufactures precision metal components; provides explosive load, assemble and pack services for a variety of munitions, tactical missile and Rocket programs; and designs and produces shaped charge Warheads and control actuator systems.
