EADS - Warrior 21

EADS : 17 September, 2007  (Company News)
Warrior21 – the integrated fighting system – and the world's most advanced soldier system in deployment, presented for first time at DSEi

EADS Defence & Security (DS) is presenting details of Warrior21, its next-generation future soldier system, for the first time at Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEi), 11-14 September. Warrior21 meets NATO Soldier Modernization Requirements and with its innovative electronic equipment, can be adapted to suit the individual requirements of different nations.

EADS DS is currently supporting the armed forces of several nations to create their Warrior21 including Spain (COMFUT) and Germany.

'At DSEi visitors will have the opportunity to see for the first time the world's most advanced series-produced soldier system currently in deployment: Germany's Infantryman of the Future, called IdZ', says Dr. Martin Faust, responsible for the soldier modernization programme business in Defence and Communications Systems, a Business Unit of EADS DS.

IdZ was designed for the German Bundeswehr and is in use with 2,000 systems deployed. It has been used in operational theatres in Afghanistan, the Congo, and Kosovo. 'With its outstanding performance the IdZ is the first choice for urgent needs. An IdZ-solution can be realized within weeks', Faust adds.

The integrated fighting system Warrior21 will be available in the medium term. It provides infantrymen and the junior commander with updated and complete situation awareness in complex missions. This is made possible through links with and integration into command-and-control and communication systems as well as various ground-, air- and sea-based vehicles, sensors and effectors. The Warrior21 technology will become a key enabler and will support the soldier communication, decision-finding and task execution.
