Curtiss-Wright Awarded Contract for Future Combat System

Curtiss Wright Corporation : 02 October, 2006  (Company News)
Curtiss-Wright Awarded Contract for Future Combat System
Curtiss-Wright Corporation has announced that it has been awarded a contract from General Dynamics Land Systems. Curtiss-Wright will be the prime contractor and will share the work equally with teaming partner MOOG Inc. to provide the Servo Motor Controllers (SMC) for the Future Combat System (FCS) Manned Ground Vehicles (MGV).

'Curtiss-Wright is pleased to have been selected by General Dynamics on this new and prestigious program,' said Curtiss-Wright Chairman and CEO Martin R. Benante. 'The Future Combat System will play a major role in transforming the U.S. Army for decades to come.'

The SMC is a product line of modular motor drive and control units for the FCS Manned Ground Vehicles. The SMC product line consists of five variations and controls a wide variety of motors common across eight vehicle variants of the MGV.

The Curtiss-Wright/Moog team will design and manufacture the SMC's over two program phases from FY 2006 through FY 2010. If the Army goes into full FCS production, then additional SMC production quantities could potentially be required through 2021.

The design, development and manufacturing of these products will take place at Curtiss-Wright's Motion Control segment, Embedded Computing facility located in Santa Clarita, California and Moog's facility located in East Aurora, New York.
