CAE and Iberia - Training Centre in Madrid

CAE : 15 March, 2007  (New Product)
CAE and Iberia inaugurate new wing of CAE Aviation Training Centre in Madrid
CAE and Iberia Airlines inaugurated today a new four-bay wing of the CAE Aviation Training Centre near Barajas Airport, Madrid. Representatives of the CAE-Iberia training joint venture were on hand to commemorate the event with customers and Spanish Aerospace industry guests.

In order to provide the best service possible to its customers and improve operational efficiency, CAE expanded the Barajas training centre to allow the consolidation of two local satellite facilities. The resulting expanded centre gives customers access to 11 full-flight simulators (FFS) and a full complement of services in one strategic location adjacent to the Madrid Barajas Airport.

Formed in October 2003, the CAE-Iberia joint venture trains approximately 8,000 pilots from 40 airlines annually, including those of Iberia, Air Nostrum, Clickair, Spanair, Vueling and other airlines operating both in and outside Spain.

'We opened our Madrid training centre in January 2002 with two simulators. Now with Iberia as a partner we provide training and services on seven aircraft types in one convenient location,' said Jeff Roberts, Group President, Innovation and Civil Training & Services, CAE. 'This latest expansion shows our commitment to supporting aviation in Europe. '

CAE's training network spans the world with facilities housing more than 110 full-flight simulators in 24 locations around the world. CAE trains more than 50,000 pilots a year and operates in every segment of the aviation industry, from major and regional airlines to business jets and helicopters. CAE is the only global simulation and training equipment and services company with such an array of integrated training solutions. The Madrid training centre provides training for the following aircraft: A320 (4 FFS), A330/340 (2 FFS), Dash8-300, MD82/83, MD87/88, B747-200 and CRJ200 (soon to include 700/900 configurations).
