Thales UK has been awarded contracts initially worth £35m from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to provide long-term in-service support for the Royal Navy’s (RN’S) Trafalgar-, Vanguard- and Astute-class periscope systems. In 2001 Aish was approached by NG Sperry Marine to quote for the design and manufacture of the Operator Consoles for the Platform Management System for the T45 Destroyer. After several visits to our facility in Poole, NG Sperry were convinced of our pedigree within the Naval environment and our ability to carry out the required task. Our customer was experienced in platform management systems on commercial vessels but had no previous history on RN ships and specifically the harsh operating environment that protection would be required to guard against.
