The U.S. Army TACOM Lifecycle Management Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a $20 million delivery order as part of a $37 million contract to reset 36 M1A1 Abrams Integrated Management (AIM) main battle tanks.

The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, $56 million to upgrade 14 M93 and four M93A1 Fox Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance Systems to the M93A1P1 configuration. The M93A1P1 is the most updated configuration of the Fox NBCRS and features a survivability improvement package. This includes slat armor, armor protection against improvised explosive devices and accommodations for the common Remotely Operated Weapon Station.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a $107.7 million contract option from the U.S. Army TACOM-Picatinny (Picatinny, N.J.) for reactive armor production for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. This option is part of a July 2006 contract and brings the total value to $237 million.

Sunnex has announced that its Sunnex HS Series will be used by the United States Army to provide task lighting in HMMWVs and Bradley Fighting Vehicles. The U.S. Army will install nearly 1,400 HS lamps in these vehicles, which provide protected battlefield transport for infantry squads. In Sweden the HS Series is military mounted in submarines, Combat Boat 90 and Combat Vehicle 9040.

Curtiss-Wright Corporation has announced that it has acquired the stock of Benshaw Advanced Controls & Drives, of Pittsburgh, PA, for approximately $102 million in cash. Benshaw is a market leader in the design, development and manufacture of mission critical motor control and protection product solutions for leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and industrial customers. The business will become part of Curtiss-Wright's Flow Control segment.
 
Boeing - Future Combat Systems Initial Production

Boeing and partner Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Lead Systems Integrator for the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program, today announced that the Army has authorized planning for FCS low-rate initial production, including long-lead items for the first FCS capability Spin Out and Manned Ground Vehicle (MGV) early production units. The latter is focused on the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon (NLOS-C) initial production platform, which will be fielded in 2010 according to a Congressional mandate.

Roush Technologies has won a £3.5+ million contract to develop a small, 6-wheel all-terrain vehicle (ATV) for the UK Ministry of Defence. The lightweight, high mobility modular platform will be designed for a number of applications. The new unit, for which Roush presented a creative and innovative concept, uses a number of advanced materials and design elements. It features a single seat driving position and offers a payload area that can be configured to meet a wide range of operational requirements.

The U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command on May 25 awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, a $12 million contract modification for Abrams tank system technical support (STS). STS funds engineering studies on Abrams tanks with the purpose of identifying improvements and conducting the change-out of obsolete parts, while keeping Abrams main battle tanks current to their base configurations. The STS program's objective is to maintain Abrams tanks at high operational readiness rates.
