In a ceremony at the AHS International annual forum, AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, was awarded the Igor I. Sikorsky International Trophy. The award was made to AgustaWestland as recognition to the company that designed and manufactured a pure helicopter which established an official world speed record during the preceding calendar year in the class E-1 categories according to the rules of the Federation Aeronautique International.

Boeing's P-8A Poseidon test aircraft T-1 successfully completed its first flight on 25 April 2009, taking off from Renton Field at 10:43 a.m. and touching down at Boeing Field in Seattle at 2:14 p.m. The P-8A performed a series of flight checks, reached a maximum altitude of 25,000 feet, and landed after three hours, 31 minutes in the air.

The ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system (UAS), a joint effort of Boeing and its subsidiary Insitu Inc., last week flew its 150,000th hour in service with the U.S. Marine Expeditionary Forces, U.S. Navy, U.S. Special Operations Command, Australian Army and Canadian Forces. ScanEagle has provided persistent in-theater intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) to the joint forces in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2004.
