Airbus - demand for 25000 new aircraft predicted

Los Angeles Fire Department orders a third AW139 helicopter

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, announced Thursday at the Airborne Law Enforcement Association’s Annual Conference that the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) has signed for a third AW139 medium-twin helicopter. This aircraft will join the two AW139s already in service performing critical aerial fire-fighting, medevac and search and rescue missions in Los Angeles and the surrounding communities. This aircraft will be produced at AgustaWestland’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania production facility.

Aerospace industry reacts to Policy Exchange report on aviation biofuels

Matthew Knowles, spokesman for the Society of British Aerospace Companies, said 'This report is a welcome contribution to an important debate in which the aviation industry has already delivered a great deal of research results. The aerospace industry encourages the development of sustainable biofuels from second and third generation feedstocks such as jatropha, algae or biomass waste that do not impact on agricultural land. They could make a significant contribution to reducing emissions from aviation, currently standing at around 2 per cent of global man-made CO2 emissions.
 
Bel Air?s first AW139 helicopter named ?Spirit of Agusta? enters service

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that Bel Air’s first AW139 medium twin helicopter named "Spirit of Agusta’ has entered service. The 12 seat configured aircraft, which has started flying offshore transport missions, was delivered to the Danish customer last month. This AW139 is the first of several that will be delivered to Bel Air. Additionally, Bel Air has also been appointed as official AgustaWestland Service Centre for the AW139 in Denmark.
