Pratt & Whitney Canada has launched its next-generation 10,000-pound-thrust-class engine family, designated the PW800. The first engine, the PW810, has been selected by Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron company, to power its new Citation Columbus business aircraft. Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a United Technologies company.
 
GKN Aerospace delivers first winglet for the Boeing 737-300/500

GKN Aerospace has delivered the first blended winglet for the Boeing 737-300/500, well ahead of scheduled delivery dates in the first quarter of this year. The agreement, with Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) was finalised in April 2007.

Boeing has announced an order from Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air Transport Aerian for two Next-Generation 737-800s and purchase rights for two more. The airplanes will join the airline's all-Boeing fleet to provide extra capacity in a fast-growing market. The order is valued at approximately $150 million at list prices.

Boeing and Spanish carrier Air Europa today announced an order for eight Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners valued at $1.3 billion at list prices. The order, placed by Air Europa in 2007, previously was accounted for on Boeing's Orders & Deliveries Web site as an unidentified customer. Air Europa also acquired purchase rights for an additional eight 787s.

Airbus - TAM Linhas A?reas order

Leading Brazilian carrier TAM Linhas Aéreas has firmed up its order for 22 A350 XWBs and for four additional A330-200s. The airline based in São Paulo has furthermore added another 20 A320 Family aircraft to the initial order. TAM, Airbus' biggest customer in the southern hemisphere, now has the largest A350 XWB fleet. This agreement raises the number of orders for the A350 XWB to 314 aircraft.

Boeing and Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air have finalized negotiations for up to 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in a deal that could be worth approximately $3.9 billion at list prices if all options are exercised. Boeing - First 787 flight now expected in early 2009

Boeing has announced that first flight of the 787 has been moved from the end of the first quarter of this year to around the end of the second quarter to provide additional time to complete assembly of the first airplane. Deliveries are now expected to begin in early 2009, rather than late 2008. There is not expected to be any impact on 2007 financials; no material impact on 2008 earnings guidance.

AgustaWestland has announced that CHC Helicopter Corporation through its global helicopter support division, Heli-One, has signed a contract for thirteen AW139 medium twin helicopters. The order value is worth approximately 140 million dollar. This new order, which adds to the previous one for twenty AW139s, will further expand CHC's AW139 fleet dedicated to offshore and emergency medical service missions. CHC, as the world's largest provider of helicopter services to the global offshore oil and gas industry, started incorporating the AW139 helicopter into its fleet in 2005 as part of its fleet renewal and expansion plans.

Based in Naples, Florida, Shaw Aero Devices, Inc. was founded in 1956 and has 250 employees. The company, which invented patented safety-lock, flush- mounted fuel and lightning safe caps, also produces other caps and adapters, fuel system components, lubrication and hydraulic system equipment, and water and waste components for aerospace markets, including both commercial and military aircraft and their engines. The business had sales of $45 million in 2007. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to earnings in its first full year of operations.

Stork Industry Services makes two acquisitions

Stork Industry Services has acquired a shareholding of 70% in Exmont Engineering in Bratislava, Slovakia. Both parties recently signed an agreement for this purpose. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of November. Stork also signed a contract today to acquire 100% of the shares of Istimewa Elektro in Vlissingen, Netherlands. Both acquisitions are in line with Stork's growth strategy.
 
AgustaWestland Future Lynx Manufacture Commences

The first monolithic machined panel for the first AgustaWestland Future Lynx was manufactured last week at Oldland CNC's facility in Bristol, United Kingdom. The manufacture of the first component, a lower fuselage bulkhead, was witnessed by representatives from the UK Ministry of Defence Integrated Project Team and AgustaWestland. Oldland CNC is manufacturing 83 of the 147 Future Lynx primary structure monolithic machined components and supplying them to GKN Aerospace for incorporation into the airframe prior to delivery to AgustaWestland. The monolithic machinings that are used in Future Lynx dramatically reduce parts count, assembly time and reduce in service maintenance.

Depending on the sales success of the airplane, revenues could total approximately US $ 600 million. The order requires non-recurring investments of around US $ 56 million. First revenues are expected in 5 years after the start of the design of the required parts. An annual turnover for Stork of US $ 60 million is expected.
