Advanced fuel system for UK’s SV programme

GKN Aerospace has delivered the first two fuel systems for the UK’s Specialist Vehicle (SV) programme to equip the PMRS (protected mobility reconnaissance and support) infantry carrier variant and the repair variant of the vehicle. The PMRS variant system has also been fitted to the vehicle hull for system integration and to support growth reliability trials.

GKN Aerospace has gained a further follow on contract from Lockheed Martin to supply the integrated nacelle for the C-130J aircraft. As part of an initiative to reduce and remove Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from fuel tank manufacturing processes, engineers and scientists at GKN Aerospace in Portsmouth, UK, have developed the first single-skin flexible fuel bladder material that is able to offer crash resistance and puncture tolerance.
