Airbus - demand for 25000 new aircraft predicted

Some 25,000 new passenger and freighter aircraft valued at US$3.1 trillion will be delivered from 2009 to 2028, according to Airbus' latest Global Market Forecast. Emerging economies, evolving airline networks, expansion of low cost carriers and the increasing number of mega-cities as well as traffic growth and the replacement of older less efficient aircraft with more eco-efficient airliners are factors driving demand for new aircraft.

Following recent successful development testing, a new Auto-Pilot/Flight-Director (AP/FD) TCAS* mode for the Airbus A380 has been approved and certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Afriqiyah Airways takes delivery of first Airbus A330 from Airbus

Afriqiyah Airways has taken delivery of their first Airbus A330-200 aircraft, becoming a new operator of this aircraft type. The new A330 will seat 230 passengers in a two-class cabin and will serve long-haul operations on routes from Tripoli to Africa and Europe.

Airbus hasdelivered the 1000th aircraft from the A330/A340 Family. The aircraft, an A330-300, was handed over to Thai Airways International (THAI) at a special ceremony in Toulouse.

Armavia takes delivery of its first new A319 from Airbus

Armenia flag carrier Armavia has today taken delivery of its first new A319. The aircraft was handed over to Armavia's President, Mikhail Bagdasarov, at a ceremony held at the Airbus factory in Hamburg, Germany. Operated under a lease agreement with ILFC, the new A319 will increase the airline's Airbus fleet to five aircraft.

Airbus is adapting production rates of its A320 Family programme from 36 to 34 a month from October 2009 onwards. Production rates of the A330/A340 family will be paused at the current level of 8.5 a month, and not increased further as previously planned.

Korean Air orders two more A380s from Airbus

Korean Air has placed firm orders with Airbus for two more double-deck A380 aircraft. This latest purchase agreement brings the total number of A380s ordered by Korean Air to ten aircraft. The carrier will operate the aircraft in a three-class layout on routes linking Seoul to destinations in North America and Europe, including Los Angeles, New York and Paris.

The first A380 was delivered to Singapore Airlines on 15th October 2007, with five more delivered to the airline in 2008. Qantas received three A380s in 2008, and Emirates four - the most recent of which was delivered on the 30th December 2008 from the Airbus delivery centre in Hamburg, Germany.
Airbus - Uzbekistan Airways orders four A320s

Uzbekistan's national carrier, Uzbekistan Airways, signed a firm contract for the purchase of four A320 aircraft as part of the modernisation of its medium range fleet. In addition to six A320s already acquired by the airline in June 2007, this order will further enlarge the airline's A320 orders up to ten aircraft.

The deliveries include 367 A320 Family aircraft, six A300 Freighters, 79 A330/A340 aircraft, and the first all new eco-efficient A380 to Singapore Airlines. Entry into service of the A380 was smooth, with a very high technical dispatch reliability rate.
Airbus - A350-900 for China Airlines

China Airlines, Taiwan's largest carrier, has signed a contract with Airbus for the purchase of 14 A350-900 and taken another six on option. The new generation medium capacity long-haul aircraft is being acquired by China Airlines as part of their future fleet modernisation programme.

Airbus - TAM Linhas A?reas order

Leading Brazilian carrier TAM Linhas Aéreas has firmed up its order for 22 A350 XWBs and for four additional A330-200s. The airline based in São Paulo has furthermore added another 20 A320 Family aircraft to the initial order. TAM, Airbus' biggest customer in the southern hemisphere, now has the largest A350 XWB fleet. This agreement raises the number of orders for the A350 XWB to 314 aircraft.
Airbus - A400M First Centre Wing Box Delivered

The first centre wing box, the 'structural heart' of the A400M military transport aircraft, has been delivered from the Airbus Nantes site in France to Seville in Spain, where it arrived yesterday, Wednesday 28th March. Deliveries of major structural sections for the first A400M military transport aircraft to the final assembly line in Seville, Spain, started at the end of 2006.
Airbus: New appointments for operations and procurement

Gerald Weber (57) has been appointed Head of Operations and Member of the Airbus Executive Committee as of 2nd April. Mr Weber was until recently Head of Truck Product Creation and Member of the Board 'Commercial Vehicles' at DaimlerChrysler AG and has held senior positions at A.T. Kearney and Volkswagen AG.
