There are a variety of factors that determine the viability of a new flight simulator. Chief among these are performance, uptime/ availability, maintainability and ease of use. This paper will discuss how FlightSafety engineers, working in close conjunction with the UEI engineering team, have deployed UEI’s "RACKtangle’ I/O series and made across the board improvements in the new Sim I/O equipped simulators.

A large NASA funded research facility needed a way to test the strength and stability of a landing "gear’ designed for use in a future Mars landing vehicle. A prototype of the landing gear was developed and was to be subject to "drop’ tests designed to simulate the stress profile of an actual landing.
