A briefing published during 2014 summarises security-related findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for the leaders of defence communities and associated policy makers. The briefing makes clear that the impacts of climate change will affect all parts of the world, and outlines potential flashpoints of conflict and threats that could require large-scale military response.
The sky’s the limit for UK aerospace and defence

New research conducted by Invest in Hampshire reveals that 93% of aerospace professionals expect the UK’s aerospace and defence industry to increase its current 20% share of the EU market within the next five years. Of those surveyed, more than half (58%) expected this growth to be by 5% or more.
High number of fatalities despite unchanged level of armed conflicts

At 33, conflicts in the world last year increased by one compared to 2012. This is reported by peace researchers at Uppsala University’s Conflict Data Program. The number has remained stable over the past decade. 2012 saw an increase in the number of battle-related deaths with the number of casualties in Syria completely overshadowing any other ongoing conflict. In 2012, two out of five people dying in battles, died in Syria.
