CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation)
: 23 June, 2010  (Application Story)
CSC has joined forces with Honeywell to create a new venture called InSpace 21 for providing the US Air Force with launch and test range support
CSC and Honeywell Technology Solutions have established InSpace 21, a joint venture that is dedicated to providing integrated operations support to the US Air Force space community. InSpace 21 is bidding on the Air Force’s upcoming Launch and Test Range System (LTRS) Integrated Support Contract (LISC). CSC has named Michael Maier, currently a vice president with the company, program manager of InSpace 21. He is responsible for its leadership and management.

LISC consolidates the existing operations and maintenance effort at the eastern and western launch ranges and the engineering and sustainment work at the Space and Missile Center into a single range support contract to improve efficiency and effectiveness. InSpace 21 offers extensive experience in range operations, maintenance, logistics, sustainment engineering and mission support services.

“CSC and Honeywell’s combined strengths offer the best possible team to provide a highly reliable, integrated solution that increases range availability, reduces sustainment costs and keeps our customers mission-ready,” said Alan Weakley, president of CSC North American Public Sector’s Applied Technology Group. “Under Mike’s proven leadership, we are confident that InSpace 21 can deliver proven innovative solutions to address the unique needs of the U.S. Air Force space community.”

“InSpace 21 brings together CSC’s expertise as the most experienced provider of range support services, and Honeywell’s unparalleled sustainment and engineering capabilities to offer best-in-class processes, practices and tools,' said Vince Trim, president of Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. “Our integrated solution will ensure access to space, total range safety and provide time certain delivery for the Air Force space community.”

Maier is the current vice president and general manager of Computer Sciences Raytheon (CSR), a joint venture between CSC and Raytheon Technical Services Company. CSR provides range technical services under the Eastern Range Technical Services contract to the US Air Force 45th Space Wing. Maier holds a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems from Rollins College and is a senior member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a member of the American Meteorological Society.
