Rolls-Royce and Embraer celebrate the 2,000th AE3007 engine delivery
Rolls-Royce and Embraer celebrated the delivery of the 2,000th AE3007 engine during a ceremony on March 22 at Embraer's facility in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil. The AE3007 has powered Embraer's ERJ family of regional jets and Legacy Business Jet for a decade.

Rolls-Royce Chief Executive Sir John Rose presented Embraer President and CEO Mauricio Botelho with a customized gift commemorating the event (photo).

Sir John Rose said: 'Rolls-Royce is proud to have been an integral part of Embraer's impressive development, growth and success over the past decade. We believe that our expertise and worldwide support network has made a significant contribution towards the success of Embraer, which has become a very significant and important customer for Rolls-Royce. We look forward to building on our relationship with new aircraft, new engines and new opportunities.'

Entering service in 1996 with Embraer, the AE 3007A engine powers 20 variants of the Embraer ERJ 145, ERJ 140 and ERJ 135 regional jets, the Embraer Legacy 600 corporate aircraft and ERJ-145 military variants.

Ian Aitken, Rolls-Royce President of Corporate and Regional Aircraft said: 'Ten years of partnership has generated great results for both Rolls-Royce and Embraer. Nearly 1,000 ERJ aircraft and 100 Legacy aircraft in operation is a superb achievement and we are proud to be a part of that success. This 2,000th delivery is another in a long line of milestones our companies have enjoyed together and we are looking forward to many more successful years together. '

Rolls-Royce was recognized as Embraer's 2006 Supplier of the Year for mechanical systems. The award was based on delivery performance, quality, operator customer satisfaction and flexibility in dealing with Embraer.

Artur Coutinho, Embraer Executive Vice President for Industrial Operations said: 'Rolls-Royce willingness to invest and to make the AE 3007 the most reliable engine in operation in the 50-seat market showed to be a relevant element in our ERJ family success'.

In 2001, Rolls-Royce launched the enhanced AE3007A1E engine, specifically for the Embraer ERJ145XR. The enhanced 8,110lb-thrust AE 3007A1E turbofan offered a 7 percent increase in takeoff thrust and up to a 14 percent increase in climb thrust over existing AE3007A1 models, allowing up to a 29 percent increase in range over current ERJ 145 aircraft.
