Renamed DSEI reflects crossover between Defence and Security

Clarion Defence Ltd
: 16 December, 2009  (Company News)
With the Security and Defence industries becoming more converged in many areas such as border control and screening, Clarion has renamed the DSEi event to reflect the security industry content
DSEi, Europe’s leading integrated exhibition for the land, sea and air defence and security industries, is undergoing a subtle but significant name change. Clarion Events, the organisers of DSEi, have renamed the event Defence & Security Equipment International.

Hitherto the exhibition has been entitled Defence Systems & Equipment International and the new name reflects an important shift that has been taking place in the defence arena in recent times. “Security capabilities are becoming as important to armed forces around the world as defence capabilities have traditionally been,” explains DSEi’s Exhibition Director, Sally de Swart. “At this year’s exhibition 460 exhibitors – more than a third of the total exhibitor base – declared an interest in security products and technologies and many were taking the opportunity to showcase them.”

The move will also build on the close relationship DSEi has with UKTI DSO, which also covers both defence and security remits. Many of the international delegations that are invited by UKTI DSO are interested in both security and defence capabilities so this move will help to maintain the high levels of attendance by delegations that the show is renowned for.

DSEi 2011 takes place from 13 to 16 September, 2011 at ExCeL.
