Sarnoff
: 27 October, 2010  (New Product)
Sarnoff will supply the US Navy with TerraSight ground stations based on a combination of feeds from real-time video and sensor sources
Sarnoff has been awarded a subcontract by Neany issued under a prime contract with the Naval Air Systems Command to provide TerraSight Ground Stations (TGS) for use in the Persistent Ground Surveillance System (PGSS). The TerraSight Ground Stations will run Sarnoff’s TerraSight video exploitation software.

PGSS is a rapidly fielded system that includes a sensor-equipped, helium-filled aerostat platform. The system increases intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities and provides a more complete surveillance picture through inclusion of information from new sensor systems. TerraSight is a field-proven, advanced C4ISR-enabling solution that provides the theatre with a common operating picture that fuses multiple real-time video and data feeds from a variety of sensors. Video and data feeds are then overlaid onto a 3D terrain map in real time.

“US Central Command has stated an urgent need to protect forward operating bases,” said Mark Clifton, Sarnoff’s Acting President and Chief Executive Officer. “The TerraSight Ground Station will help PGSS quickly and cost effectively get into the field and provide full situational understanding where it’s needed most.”

The Department of Defense and the Army recently hosted a successful demonstration and static display of the PGSS on May 18 at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.
