Defence contractor places order for ED Series UVS Plus systems equipped with Light Weight battery packs for use on the HMMWV
Falcon Electric, an award-winning manufacturer of uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and power conversion systems for military applications, has announced the fulfilment of a contract with DoD contractor Sechan Electronics of Lititz, PA. Falcon’s ED Series UVS Plus lightweight 5kVA three-phase power conversion system with a special lightweight battery pack was designed, tested and passed Department of Transportation (DOT) and other certifications. This system will be used onboard a shelter system mounted on a High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) and is currently in use by the US Army.

“Shelter systems are one of Sechan’s many areas of expertise. After we were awarded a contract for this equipment from the US Army, Falcon Electric was willing to design a unit for our specific needs,” said Kraig Wickard, of Sechan. “We needed a three-phase to 120VAC, 60Hz single-phase UPS solution to power the onboard computers and communications equipment.”

“We’re very proud to be selected by name for this project,” said Arthur Seredian, President and CEO of Falcon Electric. “When I think of milestones in our evolution, this is certainly one of them: our engineers worked tirelessly to develop the electronics and battery technology required, within very tight parameters, to meet the requirements and timeline on this project.”
