: 03 January, 2007  (Application Story)
Gichner Shelter Systems, a division of Gichner Systems Group, and a world leader in the design, development and production of tactical and logistic shelters and shelter systems has announced that it has been awarded the contract to provide Army Standard Family 20 foot ISO shelters to the US Army. The US Army RDECOM in Natick, MA awarded this 5-year requirements type contract to Gichner who according to the original solicitation documents offered the 'best overall value to the government'.

The contract gives the Army the ability to purchase six different types of Expandable and Non Expandable ISO shelters on an as needed basis. These shelters are used by the Army for multiple purposes including repair and maintenance facilities, communications systems, command posts, hospitals, and kitchens.

At the estimated quantity of 75 shelters per year, the contract is worth approximately $50 million.

Thomas Mills, President and CEO stated, 'We are excited to have this opportunity to provide these shelters to the Army and the other military users who rely on them for the transport and protection of their critical systems. The award of this contract helps solidify Gichners position as the premier manufacturer of shelters and shelter systems for the US armed forces, and represents another critical step in achieving the growth plans we have established for the company.'
