Extended Life Components for WIMIK VIXEN and SNATCH BODY

KAM Differentials Limited
: 31 January, 2009  (New Product)
KAM Differentials Ltd produces a range of replacement parts that increases the strength of all the internal axle components in Land Rovers and Toyotas.
At the same time KAM can offer a system that increases the traction to the wheels giving greater mobility off road. This added reliability and performance is already fitted to over 5200 Spanish MoD vehicles and the Czech MoD has just completed a fleet change over for KAM units.

KAM's Modular Axle Upgrade System.

The KAM Diff lock system is a modular solution and will fit directly in to all current and past models of the WIMIK, VIXEN and SNATCH Land Rovers. The whole system has been designed so that military end users have a range of modular components that can be fitted individually from strengthened half shafts, CVís, and crown wheel and pinions to a full diff lock system.

Mobility

Mobility is crucially important for vehicles that are being used in heavy off road applications and being deployed into active service worldwide. To have the ability to double the traction with a KAM diff locker is a valuable tool when fitted. The KAM system not only protects the vehicle from becoming stuck, but also increases the vehicles ability to travel over arduous terrain when fully laden and or towing equipment

Operational Advantage

With the KAM system installed, drive can instantly be doubled. The vehicle may then tackle terrain where it would normally become stuck and therefore is able to take a route where others would not consider, thus offering a real strategic advantage.

Service Life

Often service life is seriously reduced due to the increased loadings. Any logistical delays resulting from component failure or a vehicle becoming stuck could risk the loss of assets or indeed life and for the personnel manning the vehicles to be confident in the equipment supplied.

Reliability

The reliability of the OEM axle comes into question particularly when vehicles are up-armored, have heavy payloads and operational equipment. The KAM system addresses all these issues and offers constant reliability. KAM offer considerably better through life cost saving, not just on the unit price, but the added down time and expense of fitting. KAM is in the process of adding NSNís to all of our parts.

KAM Heavy duty Shaft
Generally we would recommend the fitting of the highest grade shafts to vehicles that are in direct theatre operations, specialist operational duties and where the risk of failure of drive could lead to loss of assets or put the personnel in a greater position of risk. (The KAM half shafts are up to 46% stronger than the standard Land Rover fitment).

CV
We produce a range of CVís that are an up-rated version of the standard part. The CV offers up to 100% increase in strength over a standard CV. One of KAM latest developments is a fused system built in to the CV out put stub shaft. If the axle is put under excessive load the small stub shaft brakes saving the rest of the axle from damage. This stub shaft weight is just 1kg and takes 3 minutes to replace in the field.

Test Data
We have undertaken independent testing of all our Land Rover parts. This extensive testing has compared the original OEM parts with the new KAM up rated compensates. In all cases the test results has shown a considerable increases in strength. In the 2009 DVD copy of Battlespace we will be publishing a full technical report on the results, or contact KAM Differentials directly.
