EMCOR Group (UK)
: 05 March, 2008  (Company News)
EMCOR Facilities Services (EFS) has had its three-year contract with TBI Abertis, Cardiff International Airport’s owner, extended for a further year. The contract covers the delivery of essential maintenance and management functions at the airport.
EFS was awarded the original facilities management contract in 2004, following a successful fifteen-year working relationship with the company, which is one of the world’s leading airport owners and operators.

The scope of EMCOR’s work will range from essential mechanical and electrical emergency response to scheduled maintenance of all airport building services, such as the airport’s runway and approach lighting systems and associated back-up systems.

The scale of the operation is sizeable, with a 13 per cent increase in passenger numbers for 2006, bringing the total number of passengers passing through the airport doors to over 2 million.

Christopher Chater-Poole, Managing Director of EMCOR Facilities Services said: “This is a significant contract for EMCOR. The extension only further proves our expertise in delivering a high-quality, integrated facilities management service for
large-scale operations such as this. TBI Abertis has been a valued client of ours for over fifteen years and this latest news demonstrates our proficiency in understanding and supporting the changing needs of our customer’s business over time.

“The EFS team working at the airport continues to provide TBI with excellent value for money demonstrated by a 13.5 per cent reduction in facilities operating costs achieved over the last three years.

Graeme Gamble, Operations Director at TBI Cardiff International Airport commented: “EMCOR’s expertise in the sector has played a key role in helping us deliver our key long-term objectives of reduced costs, simplification and rationalisation of support services.

“Over time, we have established a highly effective partnership with EMCOR’s Facilities Division, and therefore are delighted to be working with the team during what is set to be a particularly exciting time.”
