General Dynamics C4 Systems
: 03 December, 2009  (Application Story)
C4 Systems has been awarded a contract by the US Army to lead a team of contractors in consolidating the live combat training systems in use by the Army
A General Dynamics C4 Systems-led team has been awarded the Consolidated Product-line Management (CPM) contract by the US Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) Program Manager for Training Devices (PM TRADE). The contract will improve the Army's ability to consolidate and efficiently manage the diverse elements of its live combat training system product lines and streamline the process for rapidly adapting systems and equipment to changing missions and threats.

The five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract has a maximum value of $200 million if all options are exercised. General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, received two initial task orders valued at $23 million.

Manny Mora, vice president and general manager for Battle Management Systems, for General Dynamics C4 Systems, commented, 'Team CPM represents a strategic partnership between the Army and industry to deliver relevant, cost-effective live training solutions to armed service personnel everywhere.'

Benefits of the CPM contract include reducing fielding time, minimising acquisition costs, lowering total ownership costs and promoting the reuse of software and hardware components for training systems. The contract also provides a framework for the management and delivery of products and support to homestation and combat training centres worldwide.

General Dynamics C4 Systems is the prime contractor for the CPM program. Team members include Big Lever Software, Cole Engineering Services, General Dynamics Information Technology, Inter-Costal Electronics, nFocus Software, Raytheon, Riptide Software, Science Applications International and Scientific Research.
