Transparencies division of PPG Industries to supply further windscreens to support the UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter Program for US and allied forces
PPG Industries’ aerospace transparencies group has been awarded a five-year, $50.1 million contract by the Defence Logistics Agency’s Defence Supply Centre in Richmond to supply windshields for UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and variants operated by the US Army, Navy and allied forces.

“As the original supplier of windshields for the Black Hawk, we are pleased that the US government is continuing to show confidence in our ability to supply exceptional quality transparencies that meet this helicopter’s demanding flight requirements,” said Brent Wright, PPG Aerospace global business manager for military transparencies. “We are proud to continue supporting people in the American armed services as well as the forces of US allies around the world by supplying windshields for the Black Hawk.”

PPG has produced heated glass windshields for the Sikorsky Black Hawk Helicopter and its variants since the program’s inception in the 1970s, according to Preston Nesselrotte, PPG Aerospace senior account manager for military transparency sales. The windshields are made at PPG’s Huntsville aircraft transparency facility for original-equipment and replacement applications.

“These windshields have delivered highly reliable performance in harsh operating environments around the globe,” Nesselrotte said.

PPG Aerospace is the aerospace products and services business of PPG Industries. PPG Aerospace – Transparencies is the world’s largest supplier of aircraft windshields, windows and canopies. PPG Aerospace – PRC-DeSoto is the leading global producer and distributor of aerospace coatings, sealants, and packaging and application systems.
