ATK Will Provide Expertise and Critical Equipment for Design, Construction,
Start-Up and Testing

Alliant Techsystems will provide the key technologies and equipment for a team selected by the Australian Department of Defence to significantly enhance the capabilities of the Mulwala gun propellant facility at Mulwala, New South Wales, Australia. ATK is the principal contract partner to Australian based Bovis Lend Lease, the prime contractor for the project. ATK's portion of the contract is valued at approximately $54 million, (U.S.).

The Mulwala Redevelopment Program will design and construct new facilities within the existing plant at Mulwala for the production of military-grade gun propellants and explosives. The project is scheduled to commence construction on site in the second quarter 2008, with completion in mid-2011. ATK will provide the production process design, critical equipment and support for start-up, product qualification and performance testing of the new facilities.

'ATK is honored to participate in this important project and we look forward to working side-by-side with our Australian customers,' said Ron Dittemore, President, ATK Launch Systems Group. 'We have developed an excellent relationship with Bovis Lend Lease and all the parties involved, and are excited to be a partner in developing a world-class facility.'

The ATK/Bovis Lend Lease team brings extensive experience and complementary skills to the Mulwala Redevelopment Program. ATK, serving as the team's technology partner, is a world-leading producer of weapons-grade propellant and energetics.

The new facilities will use process designs and technologies provided by the ATK Launch Systems Group and the ATK Ammunition Systems Group. ATK Launch Systems is the largest solid Rocket motor producer in the world. ATK Ammunition Systems is the largest Ammunition provider in the world and it operates the Radford Army Ammunition plant, one of the United States' most advanced energetics facilities. Bovis Lend Lease is a global project management, design and construction company with offices in more than 40 countries across six continents.

Following the design and construction of the new facilities, ATK will oversee production initiation and qualification of specified propellants and explosives.
