SAIC has picked up the 2010 Mentor-Protégé Award from the Department of Homeland Security for the work it has done with SCI Consulting
Together with SCI Consulting, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has been awarded the 2010 Mentor-Protege Team of the Year Award by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, for providing outstanding mentoring and support. The award is given to a pair of companies that work together to achieve significant developmental accomplishments, and perform exceptionally on DHS contracts and subcontracts. The DHS mentor-protege program is designed to motivate and encourage large business prime contractors to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to small business, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, and women-owned small business concerns. The program is also designed to improve the performance of DHS contracts and subcontracts, foster the establishment of long-term business relationships between DHS large prime contractors and small business subcontractors, and strengthen subcontracting opportunities and accomplishments at DHS. SAIC has provided guidance and support to SCI under an agreement with DHS since 2007, helping them identify market penetration strategies, quantify expected results based on projected investments, and develop actionable plans for business capture. SAIC has also provided SCI with training and education, and access to continued education and training resources. In addition, SAIC subcontracted work in various technical areas within DHS to SCI, and teamed successfully with the small business across the federal government.
