General Dynamics - Modernization of USS Germantown and USS Dubuque

General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, has been awarded two contracts totaling $34.6 million by the U.S. Navy to modernize the amphibious assault ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) and maintain the amphibious transport dock ship USS Dubuque (LPD 8).

AgustaWestland - Cyprus Signs Contract For Three AW139s

The Ministry of Defence of Cyprus has placed an order for three AW39 medium twin engine helicopters. The Cyprus MoD’s AW139s will be used to perform search and rescue and utility-EMS duties, covering the Cyprus Flight Information Region (FIR). The Ministry of Defence of Cyprus is the first customer for the AW139 in the country and this order marks further success for the best selling medium twin helicopter in the SAR market.

QinetiQ - solution for F-35B ‘rolling landings’ on Royal Navy’s future aircraft carriers

QinetiQ has successfully completed a series of trials using its T4 Vectored-thrust Aircraft Advanced Control (VAAC) Harrier aircraft on HMS Illustrious. These proved QinetiQ’s innovative new Bedford Array visual landing aid system – which stabilises the aircraft’s approach path in the presence of deck motion – as the solution for Shipborne Rolling Vertical Landings (SRVL) on the Royal Navy’s future carriers, particularly in rough sea state conditions.
