QinetiQ has been awarded a £1.9 million five year contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Research Acquisition Organisation (RAO) to assess the potential vulnerabilities of high tech components within military equipment to naturally occurring radiation. The study will allow the MOD to manage the likely impact of exposure to naturally occurring radiation earlier in the design and development cycle, thereby future-proofing equipment programmes and avoiding problems that could have time and cost implications later. QinetiQ will support the MOD to define robust standards and policies for equipment and component suppliers. |

AgustaWestland is pleased to announce the delivery by Kawasaki of the first ever licence built EH101 helicopter to their Customer, the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF). The aircraft was accepted by the customer on the 23rd March at Kawasaki Aerospace's Gifu plant in Japan. The aircraft is the second MCH101 to be delivered to the JMSDF, the first having been assembled at AgustaWestland's Yeovil facility prior to delivery to Kawasaki for customisation and completion. |

The Boeing Company and Virgin Blue Holdings, Ltd., today confirmed that the Brisbane-based company has ordered six Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners, with options for six more, and will lease one additional 777-300ER. The new airplanes will allow Virgin Blue to establish its new long-haul airline, providing service from Australia to the United States and other destinations. |

Alliant Techsystems has successfully demonstrated the robust design, mission effectiveness, and accuracy of its Precision Guided Mortar Munition (PGMM). In a guided flight test at the Yuma Proving Grounds, Yuma, Arizona, ATK scored a hit after firing PGMM from a standard 120mm mortar. The round flew approximately 2.5 miles to target and maneuvered to a precision strike, using embedded thrusters located in the body of the projectile. |
