GE Fanuc - Lockheed Martin's Littoral Ships & Systems

GE Fanuc Embedded Systems today announced that its recent acquisition Radstone Embedded Computing has been selected by Lockheed Martin's Littoral Ships & Systems business to provide the processing subsystem which will control the Non-Line-Of-Sight Launch System (NLOS-LS) platform commissioned by the U.S. Army. NLOS-LS has been selected to be part of ‘spin-out one' within the U.S. Department of Defense's Future Combat Systems (FCS) initiative. Radstone has received an order worth in excess of $1 million for initial development systems.

Boeing - Orders For 11 787-8s and 50 NG 737s

Boeing has announced orders for 11 787-8 Dreamliners and 50 Next-Generation 737s with TUI Group, Europe's largest integrated-tourism company. The orders were previously recorded on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries Web site as unidentified. The value of the orders is approximately $4.7 billion at list prices. Two of the airplanes have since been delivered and identified.

QinetiQ - £5.5m Contract - BVRAAM Trials

QinetiQ has secured a £5.5m contract from the UK MOD to use the Tornado F3 as the alternative test platform to the Typhoon to support trials for the Beyond Visual Range Air-Air Missile (BVRAAM – Meteor) and take development to the systems preliminary design review in September 2007.

General Dynamics - Launch of US Navy's Newest Supply Ship

General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics today launched the U.S. Navy's newest resupply ship, USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4). The ship is named in honor of the Navy Rear Admiral and Medal of Honor recipient who explored the North and South Poles by air.

The U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, $101 million in two separate contracts for additional Stryker vehicles and support. Stryker is a family of eight-wheeled combat vehicles, available in ten variants, that has been proven effective by the U.S. Army and the National Guard for defense and disaster-response missions.

QinetiQ - UK MoD PECOC Contract

QinetiQ has competed and won a 16-month contract, valued at over £3.5m, for the Ministry of Defence's PECOC (Personal Equipment and Common Operational Clothing) Assessment Phase. QinetiQ and a team from the MOD will look to gain a better understanding of possible future requirements, looking at the complete range of fit-for-purpose clothing, load carriage and protective equipment, including helmets and body armour, across the armed services.

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies has been awarded an order under the World Wide Satellite Services contract to provide Ku-band on-the-move satellite communications terminals to the U.S. Army. Under this order, General Dynamics will provide a single Warrior Model 20-20 Satcom-on-the-Move(TM) (SOTM) antenna system for verification and testing, with additional purchases to follow successful tests. The total potential value of the award if all options are exercised is $28 million over three years.
