Today, at Dassault Aviation's facility in Bordeaux, Merignac (France) at 1:55 PM (GMT+2), the new Falcon 2000DX took flight for the first time. Test pilots Denis Garnier and Herve Laverne were at the controls. The flight lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. During the flight, the airplane was taken to an altitude of 41,000 feet and exceeded MMO (mach .86) to a maximum speed of mach .89. All systems performed as expected. |

Alliant Techsystems has received an $18-million contract to upgrade the solid propellant rocket motor of Raytheon's Block 2 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM). RAM provides U.S. Navy surface ships with a lightweight, low- cost, self-defense system to defeat incoming anti-ship cruise missiles, as well as helicopter, airplane, and surface threats. Work on the RAM Block 2 rocket motor system design and development (SDD) contract will be performed by ATK at its manufacturing center of excellence in Rocket Center, West Virginia. |
