ATK Awarded $22 Million Medium-Caliber Training Ammunition Contract With Options, The Total Contract Value Could Exceed $100 Million

Ammunition Will Be Used by Apache Helicopters, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Light Armored Vehicles

Alliant Techsystems has received a $22 million contract to produce 25mm Bushmaster M793 Target Practice-Traced, 25mm M910 Target Practice Discarding Sabot-Traced and 30mm M788 Target Practice ammunition. The contract was awarded by the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, IL. This is the first year of a five year, multiple year contract. If all options of the contract are exercised, the total value could be worth more than $100 million. Work on the contract will be performed at ATK's facilities in Arizona, Virginia and West Virginia.

The practice rounds provide the same ballistic performance as tactical ammunition, but at a much lower cost. The M793 and M910 are used for training on the Light Armored Vehicle and the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and other 25mm applications. The 30mm M788 is used with the Apache attack helicopter's cannon and the M230 Chain Gun.
