ATK & CNIM Team on Demonstration and Evaluation Program for Composite Stiffener Structures
Alliant Techsystems has entered into an agreement with CNIM of Paris for a technology development program to supply composite stiffeners for use on next-generation aircraft programs. In addition to signing the agreement, ATK and CNIM announced today that they have received an initial order for a European demonstrator and evaluation program. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.ATK's proprietary Automated Stiffener Forming Machine (ASFM) will be instrumental to the development of low-cost composite stiffeners in a wide variety of shapes that will be required throughout the aircraft fuselage, wing and floor structures. 'ATK's ASFM patented process delivers the highest quality composite stiffeners with the greatest flexibility in design and unmatched repeatability,' said Jack Cronin, President, Mission Systems Group. 'The technology demonstration program ATK and CNIM announced today showcases the unique benefits of ASFM's composite manufacturing capability which can be used on numerous next-generation commercial aircraft.'
