The publication of the Ministry of Defence's latest Armed Forces manning figures shows that the UK Armed Forces are currently at 96.8 per cent of their full time trained strength requirement.

Elbit Systems of America, Purchases Innovative Concepts, Inc. For $15 Million

Elbit Systems Ltd. announced that on November 10 2008, its U.S. subsidiary Elbit Systems of America LLC, acquired all of the shares of Innovative Concepts, Inc. from Herley Industries, Inc. in a $15 million all cash transaction.

UK MoD - £97 million contract to strengthen airbridge

MoD has signed a £97 million, seven-year contract with Marshall Aerospace of Cambridge for the logistic support of the TriStar fleet. Known as the TRIOS contract (TriStar Integrated Operational Support), it will provide maintenance and engineering and support to the RAF's core passenger fleet until 2015 and will strengthen the airbridge service to and from theatre.

Parker Hannifin Acquires Shaw Aero Devices, Inc

Based in Naples, Florida, Shaw Aero Devices, Inc. was founded in 1956 and has 250 employees. The company, which invented patented safety-lock, flush- mounted fuel and lightning safe caps, also produces other caps and adapters, fuel system components, lubrication and hydraulic system equipment, and water and waste components for aerospace markets, including both commercial and military aircraft and their engines. The business had sales of $45 million in 2007. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to earnings in its first full year of operations.

Stork Industry Services makes two acquisitions

Stork Industry Services has acquired a shareholding of 70% in Exmont Engineering in Bratislava, Slovakia. Both parties recently signed an agreement for this purpose. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of November. Stork also signed a contract today to acquire 100% of the shares of Istimewa Elektro in Vlissingen, Netherlands. Both acquisitions are in line with Stork's growth strategy.

AgustaWestland Future Lynx Manufacture Commences

The first monolithic machined panel for the first AgustaWestland Future Lynx was manufactured last week at Oldland CNC's facility in Bristol, United Kingdom. The manufacture of the first component, a lower fuselage bulkhead, was witnessed by representatives from the UK Ministry of Defence Integrated Project Team and AgustaWestland. Oldland CNC is manufacturing 83 of the 147 Future Lynx primary structure monolithic machined components and supplying them to GKN Aerospace for incorporation into the airframe prior to delivery to AgustaWestland. The monolithic machinings that are used in Future Lynx dramatically reduce parts count, assembly time and reduce in service maintenance.

Boeing Opens First F-15E Mission Training Center

The Boeing Company has opened its first F-15E Mission Training Center (MTC) for the U.S. Air Force's 366th Fighter Wing at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. The center will provide aircrews with high-fidelity, simulator-based training without the material and personnel costs associated with training on operational aircraft.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded the Target Recognition and Advanced Identification Development and Evaluation (TRAIDE) contract by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The contract is valued at $20 million over a 64-month period of performance.

General Dynamics - BAe Collaboration U S Army's Heavy Brigade

BAE Systems and General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, have signed a memorandum of agreement to work collaboratively in support of the U. S. Army's Heavy Brigade Combat Team modernization plan, which will upgrade, modernize and achieve commonality on BAE Systems' family of Bradley fighting vehicles and General Dynamics M1 Abrams tanks, the primary combat vehicles of the Army's Heavy Brigades.
