QinetiQ North America - gunshot localization systems

QinetiQ (published 06/04/2008)

QinetiQ North America, a global developer of innovative technology solutions for defense and security, and Pacific Safety Products Inc. (PSP), a leader in protective body armor and soldier systems, announced today that they have entered into an exclusive agreement to market QinetiQ North America's line of gunshot localization systems, known as Ears(TM).

PSP will market to Canadian military and law enforcement personnel, who face growing threats from snipers and combatants both domestic and abroad, but must operate under strict rules of engagement for returning fire.

Ears is currently deployed with U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is the smallest and lightest sniper detection system deployed by US Forces. Weighing only 12 ounces and with a battery life of 13 hours, the man-mounted Ears system is able to detect and provide the direction and range to a sniper within 400 milliseconds. Ears is also available in a vehicle-mount version, which can be installed in less than 10 minutes. PSP will integrate this technology into their armor and soldier system products.

'We continue to develop and deliver the most advanced soldier equipment in the world,' stated David Scott, CEO of Pacific Safety Products Inc. 'Threats against our military and law enforcement officers are evolving and these exclusive agreements provide us with product lines that meet those threats and should open up new channels for growth as part of our strategy to incorporate unique technologies into soldier equipment.'

'Ears is proven to help protect military and law enforcement by pinpointing the source of sniper fire,' said Don Steinman, Program Director for QinetiQ North America. 'We're pleased to team with Pacific Safety Products to bring Ears to Canadian forces and law enforcement personnel.'

PSP will be displaying its body armor, helmet systems and electronic products along with the Ears systems at the 2008 CANSEC Exhibition, April 9-10 at the Ottawa Convention Center in Ontario, Canada. Attendees are invited to visit Pacific Safety Products booth #806 to view solutions and speak with company executives.
