Babcock International Group PLC (Babcock), the leading submarine support provider to the Royal Navy, announces that the Canadian Government has awarded Babcock Marine the In-Service Support contract for its four Victoria class submarines (VISSC).

UK MoD places £250 million contracts for support of navy supply ships

The MoD has today placed contracts valued at around £250 million with companies owning shipyards in the north west, north east and south west of England for the long-term maintenance of a fleet of navy support ships.

Babcock Marine to overhaul Royal Navy's HMS Monmouth

The Type 23 frigate HMS Monmouth is to get a boost to her top speed in a £9 million overhaul to be carried out by Babcock Marine at Rosyth in Scotland, Defence Minister, Baroness Taylor, announced today.

General Dynamics has delivered USNS Robert E. Peary (T-AKE 5) to the U.S. Navy. Named in honor of the Navy rear admiral who led the first expedition to the North Pole, the Robert E. Peary is the fifth ship delivered in the Navy's T-AKE dry cargo-ammunition ship program in two years.

Curtiss-Wright Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Contract for Italian Frigate Program

Curtiss-Wright Corporation has received a multi-million dollar contract from Fincantieri S.p.A for the supply of TC-ASIST helicopter handling systems for the first two ships of the FREMM frigate program. The contract also contains options for the remaining eight ships planned in the class for the Italian Navy.

World's First for NATO Submarine System

The new NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) has been taking part in the NATO Exercise Bold Monarch 08, alongside Russian and US rescue systems. During the exercise submarines from Norway, The Netherlands and Poland will be bottomed in a simulated sinking and rescue systems then ‘mate’ with the submarine to rescue the survivors.

Northrop Grumman Corporation-built National Security Cutter (NSC)

The U.S. Coast Guard has accepted delivery of the first Northrop Grumman Corporation-built National Security Cutter (NSC), Bertholf (WMSL 750) -- the most technologically advanced ship in U.S. Coast Guard history. Officials representing the company's Shipbuilding sector, U.S. Coast Guard and partner Lockheed Martin signed the official DD-250 documents, signifying the delivery of the ship.

QinetiQ - design coordination to bolster UK Naval ship design capability

QinetiQ has signed an initial 11 month contract with the MOD as part of a £2m pilot study which will see a new joint MOD / industry naval ship design office established in Bristol, to be tasked with the design of complex naval ships for the Royal Navy, such as the Future Surface Combatant.

Advanced Seal Delivery System Demonstrates Submarine Mission Capability
