General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has received a $99 million work order from Force Protection Inc. to produce 183 Cougar vehicles for the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle program.
Force Protection and General Dynamics have a partnership to share in the production and program management of the MRAP contact. Force Protection was previously awarded a $379 million contract to produce 358 vehicles for the MRAP program. The latest MRAP order is for Force Protection's category I 4X4 and category II 6X6 Cougar vehicles. Fabrication and assembly will be performed in Anniston and Oxford, Alabama; Charlotte and Detroit, Michigan; Ladson, South Carolina; and Lima, Ohio.
