Stand C2-12, DVD – Millbrook 25th and 26th June
Solutions to challenges such as weight reduction, strength and serviceability issues for military vehicles will be showcased at this year’s DVD event by Caparo. New to the event last year, Caparo will once again demonstrate how its considerable depth and breadth of expertise in areas such as braking systems, metal components and fastening systems can help its military customers overcome many of their ongoing design issues. “Modern military vehicles need to be increasingly flexible from an operational perspective,” explains Caparo Vehicle Products chief executive officer Richard Butler. “They need to cost less to transport and operate, and offer more flexible roles and payloads. All of these issues mean weight has to be removed from the vehicle without any sacrifice to performance, durability and protection. Caparo’s extensive experience in these areas will help our military customers deliver exceptionally effective vehicles and systems, and DVD is a perfect platform to demonstrate this.” Caparo’s experience in the defence sector already includes ultra-high precision tubular assemblies, fasteners, forgings and anti-shock and vibration mounts for British warships and submarines and braking systems for off-road and multi-terrain vehicles. The company is also increasingly involved in the optimisation of COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) vehicles for military applications, developing and manufacturing high durability components that help ensure that they meet the challenges of military service. Caparo’s specialist areas include vehicle structures, braking systems, clutch actuation systems, tubes and tubular systems, fasteners, forgings, castings, pressings and assemblies in steel and aluminium. All benefit from Caparo’s specialist expertise in reducing lead times by the use of innovative design and manufacturing techniques and the firm’s increased focus on weight reduction, one of the key strategies for improvements in mobility, fuel economy and emissions performance. As well as representation from its Vehicle Products division, Caparo Engineering, a group of small to medium sized engineering companies each with their own specialist expertise, will also be exhibiting at DVD. These companies continually strive to develop their products, services and people, working in close partnership with their clients to identify the most innovative and flexible engineering solutions on the market. The specific Caparo Engineering companies represented at DVD include: Caparo Forging; a leading manufacturer of forgings for global truck and commercial vehicle manufacturers. Caparo Aluminium Technologies; suppliers of high quality, specialist aluminium cast components. Armstrong Precision Components; manufacturers of Armacoil a wire thread insert system. Caparo Dynamics; a world-class manufacturer of anti-vibration, noise and shock mounts.
