Science Applications International Corporation has been awarded a prime contract from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Directed Energy Directorate, High Power Microwave (HPM) Division, to support high energy research and applications.
Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a prime contract from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Directed Energy Directorate, High Power Microwave (HPM) Division, to support high energy research and applications. This indefinite-delivery/indefinite- quantity contract has a six year period of performance and a total contract value of $49 million. Work will be performed primarily at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.Under the contract, SAIC will develop state-of-the-art systems and advance scientific knowledge in the area of directed energy technology. SAIC will deliver high power microwave components including sources, portable prime power, pulsed power conditioning systems, antennas, and novel sources of high energy density plasmas in an effort to advance the state-of-the-art and scientific knowledge in directed energy and related technology. SAIC has supported AFRL for over 20 years developing technology for core product lines, including counter electronics and force protection, and working on all aspects of HPM systems.
