3rd – 6th June 2008, London Olympia Conference Centre

As reports from Iraq and Afganistan increasingly focus on the capabilities and availability of advanced soldier equipment, the role of the soldier modernisation programme has never before been so important in paving the way for enhanced soldier protection and battlefield effectiveness.

Taking place in London June 3rd-6th, the biggest soldier modernisation event in the world will be held at the Olympia Conference Centre, bringing together the global soldier modernisation community to find solutions to rapidly deliver next generation equipment to infantry in the field. Following Soldier Technology US in January, the 8 th annual Soldier Technology Global conference in London now offers delegates access to a bigger network of 700 soldier modernisation experts in one place. Soldier Technology Global will host 51+ top soldier modernisation expert speakers from the most advanced SMPs including MERS, NORMANS, FELIN, ANOG , FIST, RIFS and AFRICAN WARRIOR.

Keynote speakers now include: Lt Colonel Mike Bodner, Chairman NATO Land Capability Group 1, Project Director, ISSP, Canada; Colonel Peter Rafferty MBE, Individual Capability Group Leader, FIST; Alan Stocks, Deputy Program Manager, MERS; Colonel Frank J. Stone, Deputy Director of Combat Developments, U.S. Army Infantry Center; Lt Colonel Andrew MacDonald, Programme Manager, FIST; Lt Colonel Amir Geva, Programme Manager, IAS; Per G Arvidsson, Chairman, NATO Land Capability Group 1 Subgroup, Weapons and Sensors, Chief Engineer and Product Manager Small Arms and Light Support Weapons, FMV; Colonel Kirk Hymes, Director, Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate (JNLWD), US DoD; Laurent Catty, Programme Manager, FELIN

As well as unique in-depth presentations from soldier modernisation experts, Soldier Technology Global brings together leading prime contractors and innovative suppliers to showcase how they can assist the world’s infantry in advancing soldier equipment and system integration. Attending prime contractors this year include General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman , Rockwell Collins, Thales and Rheinmetall. Industry soldier system experts will also share insight on their innovations, including Sagem Defence Securite on their latest sensor technologies, Elbit C4I and Land – Tadiran on effective system integration and Aimpoint on their advanced sighting systems for the future soldier.

In addition, one of the biggest benefits for attendees will be the comprehensive exhibition area, where over 60 of the world’s best equipment suppliers exhibit and delegates have an exclusive opportunity to test the latest technologies on offer to the dismounted soldier today. Exhibitors at Soldier Technology Global 2008 include: Oakley, Selex, Racal Acoustics, EPS, Photonis, Harris Systems, Elta, ITT, DRS Optronics and many more.

One of the biggest networking occasions of the defence calendar year is the Soldier Technology Gala Dinner on June 4th, which will be held at the Science Museum in the centre of London. Here over 200 soldier modernisation experts from MoDs and Industry will have the opportunity to network in an informal atmosphere, to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones.

Other highlights of the Soldier Technology Global conference this year include the annual Soldier Technology Awards Ceremony on the morning of June 5th and a new focus day on Battlefield Situational Awareness on June 6th, when the world’s leading experts on advanced C4I, UAVs and UGVs will gather to discuss how to interoperate cutting-edge communications and support platforms with the dismounted soldier. Also, for the first time there will be a Human Factors interactive workshop on June 4th with Human Factors expert Linda Bossi, Chairman, Human Factors Sub-group of NATO RTO Task Group on Weapons and Interoperability, SIREQ, Canada.

With defence departments worldwide focusing on creating a truly interoperable soldier system and sourcing equipment that can be rapidly deployed to soldiers in the field while still operating within budgets, Soldier Technology Global is the must attend event in 2008 to keep your finger on the pulse of soldier modernisation globally.
